Pastor Jerry Eze was surprised he could be famous just by Praying

Pastor Jerry Eze, the convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) and Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International, has revealed that he never imagined fame could come from simply leading prayers.

Speaking during a live talk show with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Pastor Eze shared that NSPPD wasn’t even the original name of the program and that he initially struggled to watch himself after each session.

“In fact, it wasn’t called NSPPD at first,” he said. “After a while, we asked ourselves, ‘What’s the name of this thing we’re doing?’ So we decided to put a name to it. I didn’t know people could become famous just by praying. I honestly didn’t know.”

He went on to describe how different he is off-camera, compared to the energetic persona viewers see during NSPPD broadcasts.

“Anyone who knows me personally knows that’s not really me—the guy shouting every morning. I’m very calm. Outside NSPPD, I rarely talk. I’m quiet and careful with my words. So sometimes people struggle to reconcile the person they see online with who I am in real life,” he explained.

Pastor Eze admitted that the intensity of the broadcasts made it difficult for him to rewatch himself. “I couldn’t watch myself after doing NSPPD. I kept thinking, ‘Take it easy.’ But every time I show up, something keeps pushing me.”

He concluded by expressing his motivation: “I love to see people smile. I love seeing people free.
